In this article, we will go through an in-depth look at the Tours option on the GuardTek m-Post App and the many options a user can apply to a tour.
How to Start a Tour
To start a Tour:
1. Tap the light blue TOURS button:
2. Tap on the Tour you want to do.
NOTE: You can start a Tour by simply scanning a tag. However, tags can be assigned to multiple Tours. Therefore, it is strongly recommended that you always open the Tour manually to ensure you open the correct one.
How to Search for a Tour by Category
To search for a tour by category:
1. Tap the light blue TOURS button:
2. The top header of the Tours will default to a light blue line under ALL in the category menu.
3. Swipe right to find the category you are looking for.
4. Tap on the category you are looking for, and the Tours for that category will display for you to choose from.
How to Troubleshoot the "NFC disabled" Error
If you scan an NFC tag and you get a pop-up error message that says NFC disabled:
1. Tap the OK button:
NOTE: The UI (User Interface) will vary based on make and model, but you can turn NFC on or off within your device settings.
2. Tap the NFC ON / OFF toggle to ON.
3. Return to the Tours option and tap the green START button.
4. You may now scan Tours Tags.
How to Scan an NFC Tag
To scan an NFC tag:
1. Hold the back of the device about 1/2 an inch (1 cm) from the NFC tag:
NOTE: The NFC reader in the device varies by make and model, so you may need to move the device across the NFC tag to find out where the device reads the tag.
2. The device will signal that the tag was read with a vibration and/or sound.
3. 4 things will happen when a Tag is successfully scanned:
The Tag Counter (1) will change, and the green number will reflect the number of Tags scanned out of the total number that must be scanned for the Tour to be considered complete.
The Tag is Time Stamped (2).
The Tag Icon (3) turns green.
The PHOTO, VIDEO, and TEXT (4) reporting options appear.
How to Add a Comment / Note to an NFC Tag Scan
To add a comment/note to an NFC Tag scan:
1. Tap on the pencil icon Text button:
2. The the pop-up COMMENT box, type in your comment or note.
3. Tap the green SAVE button.
4. The pencil icon TEXT button will now display as the pencil icon with VIEW instead.
How to Edit a Comment / Note on an NFC Tag Scan
To edit a comment/note on an NFC Tag scan:
1. Tap the pencil icon VIEW button.
2. Add to or Edit your original comment.
3. Tap the green SAVE button.
How to Add a Photo
To add a photo to an NFC Tag scan:
1. Tap the camera icon PHOTO button.
NOTE: Selecting the camera icon PHOTO option will open the device's camera. The "take photo" option may vary based on the make and model.
2. Take a photo and preview it.
NOTE: In this example, we will add a photo in portrait mode and then review how to replace it with a photo in landscape mode.
If you are unsatisfied with the photo, tap the Discard button and retake the photo.
If you are satisfied with the photo, tap the Save button.
3. A preview will display how the photo will be displayed, as portrait or landscape.
If you are unsatisfied with the photo, tap the cancel button or the <></> icon at the top left-hand corner and retake the photo.
If you are satisfied with the photo, tap the SAVE button.
4. Once a photo is saved, the Camera icon PHOTO button will change to a camera icon with VIEW instead.
How to Remove a Photo
To remove a photo:
1. Tap the camera icon VIEW button.
2. Tap the trashcan icon REMOVE button at the top left-hand side:
3. The photo is now removed. Tap the green SAVE button.
How to Replace a Photo
To replace a photo:
1. Tap the camera icon VIEW button.
2. Tap the camera icon REPLACE button at the top right-hand side:
3. Take a new photo and review it. (See How to Add a Photo for full instructions)
If you are unsatisfied with the photo, tap the Discard button and retake the photo.
If you are satisfied with the photo, tap the Save button.
4. A preview will display how the photo will be displayed, as portrait or landscape.
If you are unsatisfied with the photo, tap the cancel button or the <></> icon at the top left-hand corner and retake the photo.
If you are satisfied with the photo, tap the SAVE button.
How to Add a Video
To add a video:
1. Tap the movie camera icon VIDEO button.
2. Tap the movie camera icon to record your video.
NOTE: The maximum video recording time is 30 seconds. A reminder will display in the upper left-hand corner.
3. Tap the black square icon to end the recording.
NOTE: When you start recording video, the Max. duration: 30s reminder will switch to a REC timer to let you know when you reach the 30-second time limit.
4. A preview will play.
If you are unsatisfied with the video, tap the CANCEL button or the <></> icon at the top left-hand corner and retake the video.
If you are satisfied with the video, tap the SAVE button.
NOTE: At any time during the video playback, you can tap the screen to access a play bar to pause, rewind, or fast forward:
5. Once a video is saved, the video camera icon PHOTO button will change to a video camera icon with VIEW instead.
How to Remove a Video
To remove a video:
1. Tap the video camera icon VIEW button.
2. Tap the trashcan icon REMOVE button at the top left-hand side.
3. The video is now removed. If satisfied, tap the green SAVE button.
How to Replace a Video
To replace a video:
1. Tap the video camera icon VIEW.
2. Tap the video camera icon REPLACE.
3. Record a new video. (For detailed instructions on how to record, review How to Add a Video)
4. A preview of the video will play. If you are satisfied with the video, Tap the green SAVE button.
How to End a Tour
To end a tour:
1. Tap the red END TOUR button at the top right-hand corner.
2. Tap Yes in the 'End of tour' pop-up window.
NOTE: Most tours require you to scan a minimum number of NFC tags to be considered complete. If you do not complete the minimum number of NFC tag scans, you may be prompted to explain why and an alert notification will be generated.
