A configuration assistant has been designed to help you set up your first item when you access the CASHI page on a Site where CASHI has never been configured before.
This tutorial is visible and usable only once, by the first user who connects to it. To launch it again, you must select a different Site.
Each step, numbered 1 to 6, guides you through the initial setup of your Item and everything that needs to be defined for it to be properly included in future inspection campaigns. Note that you can go back at any point to adjust anything, and that everything can also be modified afterward.
Go to the Equipment Inspections page in the Activities menu.
Step 1: Name your 1st Item
This is where you simply give a name to an object that will need to be inspected.
1. Click the blue + New Element button.
2. Enter the Name (or reference) of the object in the only available field, then click Save.
3. Proceed to the next step by clicking Next.
Step 2: Create Attributes
Here you will create several characteristics (or properties) linked to one or more items. Think of this as a way to distinguish and/or structure them.
4. Click the blue + New Attribute button.
5. Enter an Attribute and, if necessary, a brief description.
6. Repeat from step 4 to add as many Attributes as you wish (we recommend a maximum of 3 attributes per Element). You can already create Attributes for different item types (in this example, all common extinguisher types have already been created).
7. Click Next to continue.
Step 3: Create the Inspection Report
This step lets you create and customize the future Inspection Report to be completed by the inspecting agent.
It is important to understand a key mechanism of inspection reports in CASHI:
only Yes/No fields are taken into account for detecting and generating an anomaly in the event of a No answer.
Make sure to phrase your questions so that a negative answer indicates a problem.
8. Click the blue + New Report Template button.
9. A panel displays the Report Builder, which you may already be familiar with (see this article for details). Use it to name the report and set up the various questions related to the inspection of the Item created in Step 1.
10. Once everything is configured as desired, click Save Form in the bottom right corner.
11. Your report is now listed. Click Next.
Step 4: Create an Equipment Type
You can now define at least one object Type to attach Attributes to. This refers to the group of objects (e.g., foam fire extinguishers), not the individual object itself (e.g., the extinguisher in room A113).
12. Click the blue + New Equipment Type button.
13. Enter a name for the Equipment Type, then select at least one Attribute from the list.
14. Define a specific icon for this type by uploading one from your computer — click + New Icon, name the icon, then click Browse to locate your file (80×80px, grayscale preferred). Finally, click Save.
15. Then select the Report created in the previous step from the last Link a campaign report dropdown.
16. Click Save, then Next.
Step 5: Create and Upload your Zones and Floor Plans
Here you will create the structure organizing your zones and import floor plans to locate the Items to be inspected. At this step you can see an example of an advanced 5-level structure — likely more detailed than most sites will need.
17. Start by clicking the blue + Add Level button (levels contain your zones and their floor plans).
18. Give a name to your first (and only?) level (e.g., Site, City, Floor, Building, …) and click Save. This closes the panel and displays the level you just named, currently empty. You can rename it by clicking the 3 dots on the right.
19. Decide whether 1 level is sufficient (move to the next point) or whether additional levels are needed — if so, click + Add Level again and repeat up to 4 times.
20. When your Levels are set, click the 3 dots on the leftmost level and select Add Zone.
21. Name this zone, then either click Import PDF in the grey area to upload a floor plan if this is your last level, or click Save directly.
22. Click on the Zone you just created, then click Add Zone at the bottom of the next level panel (e.g., Floor).
23. This allows you to name and import a map for the zone nested within the previous one. Click Save.
24. Click Next once all your plans have been named, uploaded, and organized as desired.
Step 6: Complete the Item Configuration
The final step completes the setup of the item created in Step 1: date, type, additional attributes, comments, location, and photo.
25. Click on your element's row to open a large panel.
26. From here you can:
- Edit the name (Step 1)
- Enter its expiry date
- Select its type (created in Step 4)
- Add attributes (created in Step 2)
- Add a comment (required)
- Select a zone (created in Step 5)
- Locate the item on the map (clicking on it will display your icon)
- Add a location comment
- Add a situational photo
Finally, click Save to return to the main list.
27. Your Item is ready — click Finish to exit the tutorial, then click the blue Continue Campaign Creation button.
You can now move on to the next article.
