How to Create a User Group
To create a user group:
1. Log onto your Trackforce Valiant web portal.
2. Hover over or click on the Settings module and click User Group in the Important Actions column at the left hand side of the page.
3. Click on the Create New button at the right hand side of the page.
4. Click the User Group: (1) field and name the user Group.
TIP- BEST PRACTICE: Name the user group with a combination of the client name, the role group name, and the data filter (if one exists).
5. Click the Description: (2) field and type in a description of the user group including the abilities attached to that specific user group.
6. Click the Scope: (3) drop down menu and select the scope; Client (recommended), Global or Portal (not recommended).
NOTE: The Client: (4) drop down will be grayed out and defaulted to the User Group you are adding.
7. Click the Save button at the bottom right hand corner. The green SUCCESS banner will let you know the user Group was added successfully.
How to Assign Additional Attributes - Groups
NOTE: If you are continuing from the How to Create a User Group guide above, continue straight to step 3 below and bypass steps 1-2.
To assign additional attributes (groups) to a user group:
1. Log onto your Trackforce Valiant web portal.
2. Hover over or click on the Settings module and click Role Group in the Important Actions column at the left hand side of the page.
3. Find the Role Group you want to manage in the Role Group column and click the blue circle.
NOTE: For multiple pages and large lists of role groups use the Keyword Search field shortcut. To use this feature click the Keyword Search field and type in role group name. Next click the Scope drop down menu and select the Scope that was selected when creating the Role Group.
4. Once the desired User Group has been selected, click on the blue Show button at the top right hand side of the page.
5. On the Main Form page click on the Assign Security Groups in the Additional Attributes drop down menu. at the left hand side of the page.
6. Click the Create New button
NOTE: The Scope: (1) drop down will default to Client and the Client: (2) drop down menu will default to the client you are assigning security groups to.
7. Click on the Role Group: (3) drop down menu and select the Role Group you want to assign.
NOTE: For large lists of Role Groups you can type in the Role Group name in the search menu at the upper right hand side of the box.
8. If you created and are using data filter groups click on the Data Filter Group: (4) drop down menu and select a Data Filter Group.
NOTE: If you are not using a data filter then simply leave the field blank.
9. Once the assignment has been made you can click Save & New (5) to repeat and add additional role and data filter groups or click Save (5) to complete the assignment.
10. A green SUCCESS banner will let you know the additional attributes have been added successfully.
How to Assign Additional Attributes - Users
NOTE: If you are continuing from the How to Create a User Group guide above, continue straight to step 3 below and bypass steps 1-2.
To assign additional attributes (users) to a user group:
1. Log onto your Trackforce Valiant web portal.
2. Hover over or click on the Settings module and click Role Group in the Important Actions column at the left hand side of the page.
3. On the Main Form page click Users in the Additional Attributes drop down and then click the Create New button.
4. Click on User Login: drop down menu
5. Click on the the User Login you want to add from the Current Selection: list and click the Select button at the lower right hand corner of the page.
NOTE: For large lists of Role Groups you can type in the Role Group name in the search menu at the upper right hand side of the box.
6. Once a User Login has been selected you can click Save & New to add additional Users or click Save to complete the assignment.
7. A green SUCCESS banner will let you know the additional attributes (Users) have been added successfully.
